Ellen and William weren't likely to know one another in their lives. Ellen was born and raised on Hong Kong Island while William lived in Yuen Long, though they attended HKCEE and HKALE in the same years. When they were attending college, they kind of swapped. William earned his Bachelor degree in a university on Hong Kong Island while Ellen received hers from a University in Shatin.

Again, even though they attended the same graduate school, their paths had not crossed until they met through some mutual friends from the Cantonese Christian Fellowship - William joined the fellowship after Ellen had left.
